Claudia Koontz

Clinical Research Manager

Claudia Koontz has 10 years of clinical research experience, a strong Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and HIPPA background and has managed over 20 clinical studies.

Her most recent experience has been in transfusion medicine with a focus on reducing the risk of transfusion-transmitted infections by inactivating a broad range of emerging pathogens such as viruses, bacteria and parasites that may be present in donated blood.  Claudia worked closely with the Blood Banks and the hospital transfusions services to deliver safe and effective blood products to patients.

Prior to Cerus, Mrs. Koontz worked with a boutique CRO with a focus on in vitro diagnostics and medical devices trials. She has experience in managing clinical trials in the US and EU.  Special areas of clinical research experience include Diabetes, Infectious Disease, Cardiology and Transfusion Medicine.

Mrs. Koontz completed various clinical trial training courses with Barnett International and UC Berkeley courses on Clinical Research Trial Phases and Study Design.
